Harsh Pratap Singh Bist is an artist living and working in London. His practice spans sculpture and painting, engaging with questions of human existence, belief systems, and historical memory. Drawing from his experience as a migrant from India, Bist approaches his work through a lens shaped by movement between cultures, examining how tradition, power, and ideology are preserved, distorted, or ritualized over time.
His current body of work reflects on the transformation of nature since he left home at the age of eighteen, framing this shift through memory and personal rupture. The works trace the metaphorical death of the boy who once left, marking a break between past and present selves. Functioning as a lens into recollection, the practice navigates loss, distance, and the altered landscapes—both internal and external—that emerge through time and displacement.
Bist was nominated for the Freelands Painting Prize in 2024. He has exhibited at UH Arts and Culture and Courtyard Arts in 2023, and participated in a group exhibition at The Truman Brewery, London, in 2024. In 2025, he exhibited with LumiNoir Art in June, July, and October, and participated in a group exhibition at Annex by Koppel Project in December 2025, curated by Elephant and Vision Labs. He continues to develop a body of work that challenges conventional readings of form and meaning, situating historical narratives within a contemporary sculptural and painterly language.
